Gifted & Talented

In alignment with the Texas State Plan for Services for Gifted and Talented Students, the goal of the gifted services in LCISD is to provide learning opportunities for students who participate in services to DEMONSTRATE skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication as evidenced by the DEVELOPMENT of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity and are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment.

Gifted and Talented services are educational interventions for students who perform at or show the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment.

Identified students in grades K-5 are cluster grouped with GT-trained teachers in the core subject areas of English language arts, social studies, science, and mathematics. Additionally, GT identified students participate in a 90-minute/week pull-out program with a GT Facilitator. Program services for identified Kindergarten students begin March 1 as mandated by the state. More information about Gifted and Talented
